I really enjoyed recording this project along with Célio Barros and Guilherme Marques. This musical genre is called improvised music, but it’s better known as ECM sounds, based on the records released by the German record called ECM.
If I had a chance to know about the future twenty years ago, I would have doubted anyway, specially regarding this concert: David Liebman & Guinga introducing myself as the new member of this project.
David Liebman, one of the greatest jazz saxplayer and educator ever, had a tremendous impact on my carreer and musical education. Guinga, one of most important brazilian composer since Tom Jobim, influenced me about learning harmony and compositional process in brazilian music. I just fall in love when I first heard him playing at Rio Jazz Club, in 1993. I became adictive to one of his compositions called Choro Pro Zé.
well, twenty years later, here I am playing with them… This video is more than just a documentation of the concert, it’s a turning point in my life!
One of the most inspiring IASJ international meeting took place at Souza Lima Conservatory in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from July 3-8, 2011. Jazz students, teachers, and school directors experienced and shared kindness, generosity, happiness, music, and love. This meeting was beyond of any expectation. The 21st IASJ Jazz Meeting 2011 will not be forgotten.
